Website Design Pricing

I have to say that I am a bit surprised with the reaction that we have had recently with our pricing. After putting together several website design quotes in the past week, I have had each person come back and say the price was not in their budget range. We have done several months of market research before we determined our pricing and we found that we are one of the lowest priced website design companies in the area. So the response we are receiving in regards to our pricing is surprising! For us to custom design a website for a customer, and to provide SEO services, I think that we are the best priced in the area. If anyone has any ideas, please feel free to contact us. What Customers Want!

I have spent several days in the past two weeks meeting with potential clients. Most of these people have come to us because they have not been in happy with their previous Website Designers and are looking for something more.
I sit in these meetings and listen to what other Designers have done to these people. They have given them horrible websites, left them to manage the sites on their own, and not provided continued support along the way - all while soaking them for a lot of money!
The most recent story I heard was that a small company, owned by a husband and a wife, went to a local Website Design company and told them that they were looking for a small website with just about 5 pages. They explained to the Website Design company that they didn't have a lot of money - a budget of $1500. This Design Company very rudely told them they do not design websites for such a low amount and to come back when they have $3500. These people were discouraged, and thought that they would never be able to afford a website.
After sitting with them for an hour and learning what they wanted, I was able to give them a quote for under $1500 with everything they wanted.
After meeting with them, they told me how happy they were that there was a company out there that is willing to work with small businesses and give them the tools to be successful.
We are Morse Design are not here to make a big buck, we are here to help our several Vermonters and give them an effective - attractive website that they can use for a long time. We always provide support after the website is complete and we are always a phone call (or email) away!
Over these past two weeks, it has been confirmed to me what I already knew, that people want a company that is like them and treats them with the respect that they deserve as business owners.

Green Business Tips

Since we are a Green Business, we have included some Green Business tips on our website. Here are a few to get you started:

1)Recycling: this is one of the first things that comes to mind, but is one of the easiest and effective ways to do your part. Most businesses have a printer/copier, and most people make mistakes when using them, so why not recycle your mistakes, (if only we could do that elsewhere).
2)Turn off equipment: At the end of the day shut your computer off, unplug your desk lamps, calculator and anything else that may be drawing power. This can reduce energy used by 25%.

"Green" Websites

Whenever I tell someone that we build "Green" websites the next question from them is always, "what is a green website"? So my point of this blog is to explain what a green website is.

Everything that we do each day has an impact on our environment; whether it be eating, working, or visiting a website. When you visit a website it takes energy to run that website and if it's a site that is built with a lot of coding then it will take longer to load. When there is a longer loading time more CO2 is produced, thus making a large impact on our environment.

The solution to a large amount of CO2 production is to reduce the amount of coding on the backend of a website, thus reducing the loading time for a website. There are a few tools out there that will compute how much CO2 a website is producing.

So when we build or re-do a website we do so with the tools and knowledge of how to build an environmentally safe website. We hope that by building websites that are environmentally friendly, we can all do our part to help our earth!

We are a Green Business!

What is a “Green” business may you ask? A “Green” business is a business that in conscience about the impact their everyday activities are having on the environment. It includes things as small as recycling paper, to as large as purchasing a “Green” printer. We have adopted “Green” policies that are listed on our website, http://www.morseassoc.net/. We have also reduced the amount of CO2 that our website produces as well as purchasing carbon certificates to offset any carbon that we do produce. We have a link on our website that will bring you to a resource that will show you what our carbon offset is.

Our biggest new change is that we now build “Green” websites! We build each website to produce the least amount of carbon as possible. This allows our customers to help the environment also, with no extra energy on their part. We hope that businesses who need a new website realize that they too can help the environment by allowing us to build them a website that will leave a smaller footprint on our world!
